‘Piano Key Repair’
Metroplex Piano
by Leon Speir and Michael Tocquigny

Their presentation will be an assortment of fixes for the
keys. The keyboard is the most visible of the piano's
working parts, as well as the foundation of an even,
controllable touch. Yet the keys often get less attention than
hammers, dampers, strings, etc.
Repairs include regluing an ivory head, recovering keys,
broken keys & key buttons, rebushing, and the sometimes
neglected problem of chucking keys (also called pully keys,
caused by enlarged balance hole). This, and other multi-key
repairs, is best relegated to the shop. Most single key repairs
can be done in-home.
